Simplifying shipping and logistics for merchants around the world

Shopify Shipping allows merchants in North America, Australia, and the UK to buy shipping labels for their orders. Shipping and logistics are some of the most challenging parts of running an online business, and this has been amplified by the pandemic. One of the biggest challenges is helping merchants offer fast, affordable options to their customers while ensuring that the cost of shipping does not minimize their profits. We’re continuously working to innovate our product offering by introducing new methods and tools to simplify shipping and empower merchants to define strategies that work for their business needs.

Projects include

  • Launching Shopify Shipping in Australia

  • Launching Shopify Shipping in the UK

  • Launching Local Delivery shipping method and Local Delivery driver app

  • Launching Shopify Offset app, allowing merchants to neutralize their shipping carbon emissions

  • Creating design guidelines for shipping-specific error messages

  • Working across Marketing and UX to create holistic user journeys

Checkout flow: if a merchant has set up local delivery, customers will be able to select this delivery method at checkout. If local pickup is also available, that option shows in a separate tab. This differentiation was based on the premise of whether of not a customer has to leave their home in order to receive their package—shipping and local delivery are bucketed under “Ship”, local pickup is available under “Pick up”.
